Courtney McGowan has extensive experience in criminal law having represented clients throughout Westchester County on charges ranging from misdemeanors to serious felonies, including charges for drug possession and sales, driving while intoxicated, driving while ability impaired by drugs, vehicle and traffic offenses, sex offenses, larceny, robbery, burglary, assault, gun possession, and homicides.
Courtney has handled felony and misdemeanor matters in County Court and in various local court jurisdictions throughout Westchester County and the Hudson Valley. She has built a reputation as a fierce advocate and developed strong relationships with members of the criminal justice community. She works closely with investigators, social workers, forensic psychologists and other expert witnesses to provide the best advocacy for her clients.
Having started her career as a prosecutor, and having tried cases to verdict on both sides, she has a unique perspective that allows her to develop effective strategies tailored to each client’s needs. In addition to her criminal law experience she worked as a civil litigator handling municipal matters, contract disputes, tax foreclosures, police disciplinary hearings, and employment law cases. She currently represents clients in their parole hearings, violations of probation and can assist clients in applying to have their criminal convictions expunged.
